Kickstart Your Business In 2021!
Get Staffed are delighted to share that we have been approved as an official gateway organisation for the Government’s £2 billion Kickstart scheme.
The Kickstart scheme is connecting businesses with young adults (aged 16-24) who are searching for work by providing a fully funded 6-month job placement. The scheme is a no brainer for employers as it will be completely cost neutral for your business, with the government funding 100% of the placement on a basis of 25 hours per week at Minimum or National Living Wage, dependent on the worker’s age. The employer’s national insurance and pension contributions are also accounted for and a further £1,500 grant is also awarded to support you through the process.
See the Government’s official launch video for the Kickstart scheme below…
By taking part in the Kickstart scheme, your business is not only accessing a fully funded job placement; you will also be giving young adults the chance to gain valuable skills and experience with your company. The pandemic has made it harder than ever for people to find work, so your involvement in the Kickstart scheme will help a whole generation to get back on their feet.
If you are a larger employer that can offer 30 or more work placements, then you are able to apply directly through the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) here. However, businesses applying for 29 placements or less can only access the Kickstart scheme through a Kickstart Gateway – that’s where Get Staffed can help!
Your business can get started with your application and apply for funding by providing Get Staffed with just a few details here. We will then manage the whole process for you, absolutely FREE! Unlike some other gateways, Get Staffed will give you 100% of the funding provided as we are paid directly by the government. This allows your business to reap the full benefit of the scheme.
To give your business the best chance of being approved for the Kickstart scheme, here are some points to consider:
- Any organisation from any sector can apply, but you must be a registered limited company or charity. Unfortunately, Sole Traders are not eligible.
- The Kickstart job placement must be a new role, not replacing any existing or planned vacancies, or cause existing employees to lose/reduce their work.
- People should not require extensive training before starting the job placement.
- Applications should include how you will help the participant to develop their skills, including support with finding long term work, CV and interview preparation, and training on key skills such as communication, organisation and teamwork within their role.
Once we have submitted your application the DWP, it will take between 4 and 6 weeks to be processed then – on approval – will be sent to your local Job Centre where a number of suitable young people will be selected for interview. You can then hire a candidate from this pool with no obligation to employ anyone until you find the right person for your business.
